My name is Ken McCall. I’m a technical writer for a large Silicon Valley company, a former website tinkerer, and a longtime wine enthusiast.
The idea for this site started years ago in Northern California, when I overheard one vintner say to another, “I need somebody to write a good description of this wine.” That little sentence planted the seed: could the process be automated?
At the time, the answer was mostly “not by me,” because building it manually was far beyond my non-programmer comfort zone. Then OpenAI and ChatGPT arrived. I created a custom GPT, trained it in sommelier-style terminology, and began using AI to generate polished, unique wine descriptions that understand which terms fit different wines and which ones should stay corked.
This site is still a work in progress, and for now it’s free while I test the quality and gather feedback.
It is not meant to replace sommeliers. Au contraire, it is meant to be another useful tool for vintners, sommeliers, servers, wineries, and anyone who wants to sound just a little smarter after ordering a glass of wine.
